Switzerland has not banned mammograms. I live here. The medical Association strongly recommended against mammograms about 10 years ago. However, they’re still available, and many doctors recommend them every two years.

Thank you for clearing that up. My first mammogram resulted in a biopsy that I didn't need, because someone forgot to switch out the name plate. Yes, I'm that old.

I am 75. I got one mammogram in my life. Never again. I don't take osteoporosis tests. I didn't take any any flu shots ever including the covid. Nobody has to do anything or take anything prescribed.

We are each responsible for ourselves not the government.

You’re lucky - my mammogram found a cancerous tumor. And for that I consider myself lucky. And it did not run in my family- so I guess I could have just been like you and blown it off - and died of cancer.

I don't trust anything we're” supposed to do.” I'm glad it was caught ,but we don't necessarily die with that diagnosis.

If you would like more information about "cancer" and that tumors are a Nature-derived Special Biological Program check German New Medicine (GNM) with Caroline Markolin if you like. I'm glad that you benefitted from your choice and are doing better.

I agree and good job! I do the same thing. I never do any medical thing that seems enforced, such as the SARS-CoV-2 shot and other vaccines. I've been to a doctor only 3 times to have my three sons. Everything that has kept my body healthy is done by me researching, finding out what to do, and handling it, and I haven't needed a doctor in forty years. What I do is eat mostly organic foods and follow a holistic lifestyle.

I don’t know where you live and who is paying for your medical bills. But I don’t assume you won’t see a doctor if you break your hip because of osteoporosis you could have at least reduced the risk if you had known

I broke my femoral head about 20 years ago. I had 2 operations. I was in a wheelchair because a doctor screwed up. Then a second. He wrote a prescription for a lift in the wrong foot. Yada Yada Yada.

I taught myself to walk again. Water aerobics. The PT is cookie cutter and not necessarily correct. Doctors are mechanics. Some are good. Many just push drugs. We had babies without sonograms….

I am 61 years old and have had one mammogram- it was ridiculous as I had nothing to put on the slab (my early 20s). Never again and, as with you, none of the rest.

Excellent

Dr. Robert Mendelsohn in his classic book, Mal(e)practice:How Doctors Manipulate Women exposed the dangers of mammography 4 decades ago.

“Mammography remains available in Switzerland, and screening programs continue in several cantons, with decisions on their implementation left to regional authorities.” From the article…so “ban” is not accurate, but that they recognize the harm is also important.

The FDA has actually approved safer scans like the QTscan and Safevue which are ultrasounds done in water. You just lie on a table and the breast is placed down in the water for the scan. They are recommended for women with dense tissue. They are superior in what they are able to show. However the big cancer centers are not investing in these technologies and insurance will not pay for them, so they are not available in many states. The cost is usually $600 for a pair of scans and women can make their own appointments. My guess is that if centers and clinics were to make them available it would cut down on the their income from the mammography money making machine.

If a persons chance of being cured or extending their life with good quality of life is poor then I would agree with your comment. However, if a person is cured of the disease - as is my friend who has two small children - I wholeheartedly disagree!!!! She would declare all day long that the cure was worth every bit of suffering!

I believe your facts are misleading. When a lesion is seen additional testing is ordered. Compression studies , Ultrasounds, biopsies. We don’t jump from mammogram to chemo. First it would be unethical and second insurance would not approve it. The new 3D mammograms have much better accuracy rates and fewer callbacks for additional testing. And the radiation is low compared to other tests. As a health care professional who provides primary care I order these everyday for women as part of their preventative care. If Switzerland wants to ban mammograms then they need to come up with an alternative for women’s preventative healthcare. Breast cancer caught in the early stages is very curable. Similar to colon cancer with preventative colonoscopies.
